Chic toy storage ideas

With babies and children comes stuff….lots of stuff!  I love being able to have toys and books at arms length and easily accessible to my little one but I also like to have a designated spot for those items.  We are lucky in that we have multiple rooms that Sydney can play in so in turn we have several storage options to keep her baby items contained.  Here are some of our favorite stylish-blend with our home decor-toy storage options that help keep our play areas organized.

3-sprouts-toy-bins

3 Sprouts Storage Bin: These canvas bins are sturdy and cute…they come in multiple animals (such as elephants, monkeys, zebras or even camels) so they work well for both boys and girls.  They are much taller then they look online and hold a good amount of items.  What is great about these is that they are also collapsible so they are easy to store when not filled brim and for us we use them in our living room but when company is expected they are easy to transport and tuck out of the way.

ikea-expedit-shelving

Ikea Expedit Shelving Unit: This classic Ikea bookcase has a lot of bang for the price.  We use this in Sydney’s play room horizontally with baskets in the bottom four cubbies.  This allows for easy access for her to get the baskets out and play.  At the end of the day it is a breeze to toss everything back in the baskets and be done.  The top four cubbies we use for book and larger toy storage.  I love this bookcase because I foresee it  growing with us even beyond toy storage some day.  The Expedit shelves also come in lots of great colors – think glossy white, magenta, teal and your more standard neutrals – LOVE!

Land of Nod’s Charming Baskets: These charming baskets are just that charming.  Land of Nod makes these in two sizes and two colors and since they are handmade they can vary slightly which just adds to their charm.  The taller baskets include a lid which make for an ideal laundry hamper that can stand on its own in a nursery.  I love how the herringbone design give the baskets a sophisticated feel and I think it is great that there is a smaller option to cordinate.  Besides using these hampers for laundry they would make an ideal solution for storing any other kid clutter that accumulates.

threshold-target-basket
Threshold Alicia Round Storage Basket from Target:
We keep this basket in basement as a catch all for Sydney’s blankets, books and toys.  The durable basket is sturdy and stylish without screaming child’s toy chest.  It’s rich wooden tone and durability seem timeless so much so that we are actually thinking of adding a second to the collection!  And the best part?  Once Sydney has outgrown it we can reuse for other things.

These storage ideas work for our family…what type of storage bins, baskets or otherwise do you use for yours?
